Hello from the island

I am currently staying in ile perrot, an island off of montreal, it is a very nice area with stores, cafes and all of the other essential utilities within close reach of where I am staying. I purchased a number of things at the mall, at which there are many sales and low prices, I am glad that they have more urban elements here, while still remaining residential.

The mighty mice of quebec city

I have been consistently carrying my camera with me in my jacket pocket, I personally find this extremely efficient as I have it with my everywhere, everytime. Here is my latest selection of photos, I am also looking forward to taking photos during my vacation, which is starting on the 26th of july. I have been buying a lot of things recently, since I now have a consistent income. I am going to be buying a mighty mouse on friday, it is compatible with PC, and when I get a mac in a few more months or so I will have the mouse to go with it already. But after this week I will mostly just save my pay so that I will have enough spending money to enjoy my vacation thoroughly, I am paid weekly, rather than bi-weekly, which is a good thing, also I am paid cash, so I am more inclined to spend like I have been, as I am a bit in debt. I personally like the freedom and mobility of having just enough possessions to fit into a backpack and suitcase, I tend to actually get agitated when I have too much.

I am not able to get that much sleep lately, I have been feeling somewhat depressed, and leaning towards more immediate materialistic pleasures, although, I find that overall, that is the only kind of happiness that I have mostly.

Im campaigning in the champagne.

I feel that it was quite a wise decision to buy this new camera as now I am taking many more photos. I will post more later today.

I have been following the american elections, online mostly, since I don't own a television, which is likely a good thing since it becomes an obsessive habit after a while, I can watch news clips and TV online though, as well as download or rent films and shows. The democratic elections alone were interesting, since it could either mean the first woman as president, or the first colored man as president. It will be interesting to see Obamas campaign as president, rather than solely as a senator, or democratic Nominee.

It is Saint-John the Baptist day in quebec, personally I am not much of a fan of any of these minor national holidays, or holidays like Halloween. I am getting a day off work today though, but there is nothing really going on in particular, there are fireworks on saturday, perhaps I will take photos or videos, since my new camera is capable of making videos as well, which is a plus, considering that certain things are best to be recorded in motion, and Digital Camcorders seem to start at several hundred dollars, and so for the price I paid for this camera I get both a miniature camcorder and the digital camera, (which camcorders do as well, but it is good to have both with me at all times, which I can do since it fits into my pants pocket comfortably.) I am looking forward to posting some videos at some point soon, on youtube.

The latest

I have been quite busy lately, I have started working again, to get some extra cash mostly, it is part-time, but I find it enjoyable and a kind of work which is not very stressful, as I can proceed at my own pace etc.

I purchased another digital camera, a small pocket model, which is useful as I can now walk around everywhere with a small unobtrusive and inexpensive camera in my pant or jacket pocket, and still be able to take good photos, I am quite impressed by it, considering the low price (about 100$ CAD) and the specs and features (8mpx, 3.5x zoom, 2.5" screen etc) So now I have a convenient expendable camera that I can use daily and that I do not have to worry about. I bought it online, and so I only paid a fraction of the retail price.

I am going to quebec city during the construction holiday in the last half of july. I have never been there before, I am looking forward to going, also I am going to be able to experience the 400th anniversary which is supposedly a once in a lifetime occasion.

I can't sleep at all these days, I have headaches, and my mind is always so active. Here are some photos.

They better make a combo bed/sofa/ironing-board one of these days!!

I have been away for a good deal of time, not altogether, but cybernetically and internationally I certainly seem to have been. Lately I have mostly been thinking and writing, apart from that however, not too much else. I am planning to see a film in the cinema on sunday, and in the summer I will probably visit quebec city, as I have never been there before, despite its close proximity to montreal, and the ease at which one can actually get there.

I have not been engaging in much photography work lately, mostly just photos of items that I am selling online, on ebay/ craigslist etc. I have essentially just been liquidating much of my old junk, not so much for a bit of extra cash but more just to get more space and in a sense gain a feeling of non-attachment.

I find it somewhat ridiculous and somewhat perverse how the computer and technology industries pour billions of dollars into an industry, or conglomerate of industries, which has essentially become purely hedonist, in that often these new creations are just improvements over previous extravagances etc. All the while, other sections of the worlds industries or elements, such as health care, and related items which are effectively necessities, not to mention warring and death, near-famines etc, which are not being attended to. The initial concept of capitalism was essentially that the needs of society would drive economic growth, however that has become so that the exorbitant desires and wants of society drive economic growth to unprecedented proportions, and in the end causing inequality overall.

It is unfortunate that my bicycle is actually inoperable right now, after having the repair estimate at around 120-130$, I might be willing to spend the money if it was absolutely necessary, but I will probably just wait a few months or so.

I am actually interested in buying a mac laptop, however beforehand I would like to sell this machine though, for around 400$, I have in fact put it up online for sale.

Monotony, monotony,

I have been very busy lately, mostly just trying to catch up on things. I should blog more though, or put up some of my actual writing. I have been reading a lot, I have such a great number of unread items, I am just trying to dig through that.

I have also found that lately I have just been very depressed and agitated. Not outwardly, not caused or triggered by anything. Just a generalized sensation, there are reasons though, but none which can be sufficiently articulated, to anybody, anybody who lacks similar experience. It would be difficult to even sum it up, let alone accurately describe and articulate it.

I hope that I will be able to get some more things done this summer, things that are actually productive, and which have some intent behind them, at least some intent.

Over and over again......

I haven't blogged in some time, I should, and with frequency, and with more direction than right now. I have been reading a number of magazines, including walrus, utne and Harpers. I was quite surprised upon receiving the first one, however I discovered that I actually got a free trial subscription, I have been offered a number of these lately, including to The Economist, personally though I prefer the monthly or bi-monthly magazines, rather than weekly or even more frequent ones, if it is a monthly one then it is easier for them to include everything of interest- and nothing else into the magazine, I find that the weekly ones are too short, or have too little interesting information, in short, my criticisms of the weekly ones are greater and more frequent than those of monthly ones.

I have recently purchased a cell phone, something I have been hesitant about for literally years, since I have heard about the sometimes exorbitant prices, actually I set up a pay-as-you-go plan, since that way you literally get what you pay for, and is easier to monitor, and is (for people like me who make very few, if any, calls) cheaper.

Summer seems to be rolling in now, montreal has no in-between state, not really, not like other places, right now I am uncomfortable with even a light windbreaker on, but then, I find that I have a relatively low sensitivity to the temperature, compared to some other people. I am hoping that I will take more photos, and blog more, and writing, not just photos. I will be more inclined to do this since I will be bicycling again, and so will have easier access to all parts of the city, to a certain degree that is. I am looking forward to it.

I will blog some more later, on the magazines that I have read (and when I am finished those I am currently in the process of reading) but for now, adios.
